This is one group I wish I knew more about. And the acoustics in that building… oh my.
Awkward I is a dutch guy called Djurre de Haan.He started already in 2000 (that is new for me). He has two albums released: ‘I really should whisper’ and ‘Everything on Wheels’, both great albums
Last night i saw Awkward I as the supporting act for Blaudzun. And i know i am dutch. And i know it is normal in the Netherlands to talk during concerts. But please can we stop with that. Awkward I makes reallly beautiful songs and they played really well last night even though loads of people were talking. I think i am going to see them as main act next time.
After Awkward I Blaudzun started to play with quite a lot of people on stage like a violin player and a trumpet player . But still he also played songs solo with hardly any amplification. It was a great concert with old and new material and his grandmother was also there.
And i bought the cd Heavy Flowers (with money from a colleague) from Blaudzun and a yo-yo (i already had the cd at home) from Awkward I.
BLAUDZUN - FLAME ON MY HEAD (by blaudzun)
Seven years of blogging and still not bored with it. The video (audio) is of a song of Blaudzun from his new album ‘Heavy Flowers’. I am going tonight (6 jan 2012) to his cd presentation which is also my first concert of the year 2012. And another reason to go tonight is Awkward I who is supporting for Blaudzun.
So this is my best buy list from 2011. I made one because i bought a lot of cd’s which were not released in 2011. And i wanted to give them a place in the spotlight. I think this list is even harder than the best of 2011 list. I am also going to make a link for the spotify best buy list i made on my facebook page. And just bubbling under are: Dyzack, Amatorski, Cloud Control, Roosbeef and so on. Oh and there are two EP’s in this list.

Eugene McGuinness albums can be bought at Domino Record Co or in the Netherlands also on dutch webshops such as Platomania and Velvet Music. And from Little Bushman i don’t know very well. I bought it when i was on holidays in New Zealand at Real Groovy in Auckland. And the rest you can at least buy in the Netherlands in the webshops i mentioned earlier.
